People tend to jump to the computer and cellphone when they think of twentieth-century inventions that have changed our everyday lives. They don't realize that they're skipping over "the little plastic rectangles that fill their wallets and purses."   Even though they are small pieces of worthless plastic, they have impacted the lives of almost everyone (MacGregor 647).  It's a turning point in history because credit cards have changed the way Americans spend money, steal money, and use technology.
